Woman Accuses Man of Hitting Her During Bank Confrontation—’What Don’t You Understand?’

A dramatic screaming fight was caught on video inside a bank in London. A woman claimed a man hit her, which caused the fight to ensue. Several bank customers got involved, and even the employees had to step in to try to calm everyone down.

The video starts after the alleged hitting incident had occurred. All we hear is the woman screaming, and at times, it’s hard to understand what she’s saying while her voice is raised.

“I have been hit, what don’t you understand,” the woman says to a man standing near her. “What don’t you understand?” she asks him over and over again. The man tries to calm her down, but the fight progresses from there.

She went on to say that she thought things would be handled differently if she were white. As a Black woman, she felt the situation wasn’t being taken seriously. People disagreed with her, but others understood her side of the story.

The man recording acknowledged racism as an issue but focused on determining who struck whom first. The woman replied, “He hit me!” and the man behind the camera seems to agree, but asks her to be quiet so they could get to the bottom of the situation. Instead, the fight escalated.

The woman continues arguing with the man she accused of hitting her. She’s telling him over and over that he hit her, but he seems to disagree. He claims he was simply moving her out of the way, and she escalated the fight beyond where it should be.

They begin to share a bit of context. The woman claims she was in line before the man, but he did something to her that she asked him not to do. It’s hard to make out the exact phrasing in the video. The man continues to yell back at her.

Bank Employees Step In as Argument Continues

As the fight continues, a bank employee comes out to try to smooth things over. “You have to calm down, otherwise we cannot serve you,” she says. The woman tries to explain that the man is being just as combative, but the employee continues to tell her she needs to bring down her energy. 

Again, the woman claims the man hit her, he fires back that he moved her out of the way because she was pushing into him. The fight seemed to be going nowhere, and everyone was just as angry as they were when it started.

The person recording the video makes a good point. The employee is only telling her she has to lower her voice, but the man is also yelling at her. “He’s the one screaming as well though,” he says to the employee. The man recording was upset that she was getting scolded while the man was let off easily.
