In August, illustrator Adam Ellis started a Twitter thread alleging that his apartment was being haunted by the ghost of a dead child, garnering over 58,000 retweets and 75,000 likes. Titled “Tale of Dear David,” his accounts went viral.
This week the saga took a harrowing turn for the New York City-based artist.

Ellis returned to Twitter in late October with updates about more spooky oddities happening around his apartment, and on Monday he tweeted the most compelling photographic evidence yet.

He naturally has his fair share of doubters. Is he peddling a social media gimmick to sell a screenplay? Was it a Halloween prank? Either way, the story has caught the imagination of social media.
