A video shared on X shows a bus driver connecting with a boy with autism by talking to him about something he enjoys. When he talks to his mom and appears hesitant to board the bus, the driver starts a conversation with him about something he enjoys. Without looking back at his mom, he gets on the bus with ease.

The video starts with the boy looking a little uneasy about getting on the bus. He says something to his mom, when the bus driver chimes in, “Fortnite!” She cheers. “Come tell me about Fortnite! You were going to play yesterday.”

This conversation instantly changes the boy’s mood. He looks at his mom with a big smile on his face, and she encourages him to go see her on the bus. “Go tell her about Fortnite” she says as he enters the bus with confidence. Again, the bus driver says, “Come tell me about Fortnite, I want to hear!”

Once he’s on the bus, the driver waves at his mom, and they’re on their way.

The video included a second clip of the bus driver interacting with the boy. She put a picture for him on the window he sits on on the bus. She gives him a high-five when he gets on to look, and she says, “That’s my boy! Thank you, mom!” She adds that she’ll make sure she gets an important paper from his backpack.

The video is special to watch. Forming bonds like this can change people’s lives. It’s not surprising that X users had a lot to say about the exchanges in the comment section.

Other commenters praised the bus driver, calling her an angel. “I love people like this ....they are the real angels,” commented one X user.

One commenter wrote that she was the best bus driver around: “Bus driver of the year! Way to go!” Another penned, “God bless this bus driver. Showing a caring and loving side.”

Commenters recognized how hard it is for people with autism to get around in the world, especially when people treat them poorly or judge them for being different. This bus driver’s kindness goes a long way, and has likely helped him grow into a more confident person.
