Themed birthday parties are a staple of childhood. If you grew up in the 1980s you might have had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake, or Care Bears party favors. Attend a kid's party today and you might be eating off of Frozen plates or cleaning up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle napkins (what can we say, some stuff just sticks). And all these things are readily available in any party store, or in the party section of most big box stores. No matter what your kid is into that year, you can find prepackaged party supplies ready to go. Unless your 4-year-old son wants a Mrs. Doubtfire-themed party. Then you're going to have to improvise.
That's exactly what Laura Kowalski of Wyandotte, Michigan, had to do when her son Evan fell in love with the classic Robin Williams movie.
“My son saw the movie about six months ago and just loved it!” she told HuffPost. “He thought it was very funny and who doesn’t love Robin Williams?”
But it's not like you can just drive to Walmart and pick up a Mrs. Doubtfire cake or gift bags, so Kowalski started off by going to Cakes by Sweetypants, who made this masterpiece.
You gotta love a cake that comes with false false teeth.
There were also these custom-made goodie bags
Fruit kabobs with a sign that said, "It was a run by fruiting"
And even a poster made by an artistically inclined cousin.
All of which made one little birthday boy very happy.
Happy birthday, Evan. We can't wait for next year's "Good Morning, Vietnam" party.
