“She’s thinking out of the box”: Influencer’s square jeans divide social media

She tells us that "life is too short to wear boring clothes."

No matter who you are or what your style is, there's a pair of jeans for you. There's wide-leg, bootcut, skinny, and slouchy — but we can guarantee you've never heard of cube jeans before.

In a viral video that has amassed 4.4 million views, influencer Caroline Vazzana has broken the internet by taking boxy jeans to a whole new level.

Striding through the city, Caroline flaunted a floral blue, teal, and green vintage YSL blouse, a Fenty crocodile skin bag, green Manolo Blahnik heels, Kenneth J. Lane earrings, and matching green Genny glasses. But the main attraction was the jeans.

While they were perfectly coordinated in terms of color, the most notable aspect was the style. The jeans were effectively boxed around Caroline's body, which some said was giving something of a SpongeBob SquarePants vibe.

The creator even acknowledged this similarity, with SpongeBob songs "Ripped Pants" and "Big Guy" serving as the background of two other TikToks.

What are the box jeans?

In the unboxing video, she gave viewers an insight into how the jeans were designed. Inside the pants was an attached waistband. Alongside this, Caroline also revealed that the item came with a belt, which, as she tried the garment on, helped her keep it in place.

The jeans originated from sustainable Ukrainian designer Ksenia Schnaider as part of her Fall/Winter 2025 line, Cubic Collection.

In a quote cited by Denimology, Schnaider said: "We extracted that cubic, rigid, slightly absurd form and turned it into real clothes: jeans, jackets, t-shirts, caps—cut like they were exported straight from a video game. It’s playful. It’s bold. It’s our version of a clean slate. A reset. A refresh. Naive in its directness, but that’s exactly what makes it so liberating.”

What did commenters think?

In the comments, some users were unsure about Caroline's bold fashion choice. Several asked if this was a joke, while one commenter wrote: "So tired of this world."

"What happens when it rains?" another asked. "Or a big wind?"

"I’m convinced the world ended in 2000 and everything since then is just the post-credits scene of hell," a third opined.

Others were thoroughly amused. "She’s thinking out of the box," a fourth quipped. "It’s so camp with the Manolos too," a fifth added.

Elsewhere, a sixth dubbed it "art."

What did Caroline think about the response?

In an email interview with The Daily Dot, Caroline said: "I’m always looking online for unique emerging designers, so I came across Ksenia Schnaider on Instagram and instantly knew I wanted to style her box jeans. As a maximalist fashion lover, I think it’s always fun to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and style bold, unique pieces. "

She went on to say that while there have been "definitely mixed reactions," she is a firm believer that "life is too short to wear boring clothes."

"This is a couture, unique piece," she added. "It’s not for every single day of course, it’s just for fun and to make a statement!"

Ultimately, in terms of viewer takeaways, she advised: "Don’t be afraid to stand out and have fun with fashion. In a world where everyone dresses the same, sometimes it’s fun to take a really bold risk and put yourself out there. Fashion is all about having fun and trying out new things, so when people online ask, 'Why?' My answer is 'Why not?'"
