Kiki, the young witch at the center of Studio Ghibli's Kiki’s Delivery Service, is growing up and heading to an entirely new world in a new animated short set in modern-day Japan.
At just 30 seconds, the clip is entirely too short as it quickly brings us up to speed on Kiki, who’s now 17. She has—for the most part—hung up her witch robes, but she still wears her signature red ribbon and has her magic broom with her as she tends to chores, school, good times with friends, and her feelings about Tombo, the inventor who appeared in Kiki’s Delivery Service.
While it has some of the magic captured in the original film—and the Eiko Kadono novel—Studio Ghibli isn’t behind the short.

The animated short is an ad for Cup Noodle, which is running a campaign based on “youth,” and has an expanded, explorable website for its version of teenage Kiki and Tombo.
