ASMR YouTuber Life with MaK says she was branded a ‘Nazi’ by online smear campaign

ASMR practitioner MaKenna Kelly—otherwise known to her 1.6 million YouTube subscribers as Life With MaK—responded to an online smear campaign that claims she’s anti-Semitic.

On Friday, Kelly wrote from her official Twitter account that a website hosted by GoDaddy and a Change.org petition were calling for action against Kelly, who was described as a “Nazi” and appeared in edited photos with a Hitler-style mustache.

Both the website and petition—which now result in error pages, according to Insider—called the 14-year-old a “Nazi” who “hates Jews.”

“URGENT: GODADDY.com (web host) refuses to take down a site making false claims about me. I am 14, & the website calls me a Nazi & antisemite,” Kelly tweeted. “This has impacted me at school & I am scared for my safety. Please help. They said the person is doing nothing wrong.”

GoDaddy allegedly responded to a complaint by Kelly’s parents and said it would not remove the website without a court order, according to screenshots Kelly tweeted.

“GoDaddy does not allow illegal content on our customer’s website,” the email from GoDaddy reads. “However, as a hosting provider, it is not our place to determine if the site you have mentioned is actually engaging in illegal activities.”

It’s unclear if the sites’ creators removed them or if the platforms did.

In another tweet, Kelly said she believes the website was created by a classmate of hers.

She also asked her followers what would’ve happened if she wasn’t YouTube famous.

“Who’s the voice for teens in serious danger?” she wrote. “If we can't trust the police in our local area what more can we do?” Kelly wrote. “I am crying right now thinking about victims to harassment that could have been stopped with the help of police. It’s sickening.”
