In YouTube Right Now, the Daily Dot looks at videos that catch our eyes, push our buttons, and move our dials—and that you’ve just got to watch. Right now!
It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words. So 873 pictures must be a novel. If it’s not, then at least it’s a short movie.
Called “Love to Bingo,” this one-minute ad tells a charming story from the initial burst of attraction to the expected end-of-life passage of playing bingo with 873 photos from Getty Images. Since its posting on Monday, the video has racked up nearly 2,000 views.
And what a life we humans live, according to this video. We find a mate, conceive a kid, watch it hatch out of an egg, see how quickly a family expands, and then, at the :35-second mark, we get hit by lightning. How sad. It then continues with people growing old by going on solo adventures Eat Pray Love-style and popping pills.
It took advertising firm AlmapBBDO six months to sift through the more than 5,000 pictures in Getty’s collection to create the story. Each image had to to make a snap impact and advance the narrative, since the film average 15 slides per second.
There are only five comments on the video, with two people dubbing it “amazing.” Another commenter said the lightning scene is sad but “cleverly put.”
We think a montage of photos from Shutterstock wouldn’t have the same effect.
