The GOP Primary debates, by most measures, were absurd long before Vermin Supreme, the candidate wearing a boot for a wizard hat, showed up on the scene.

His Jan. 4 appearance on C-SPAN, however, seems to have tickled the Gregory Brothers—the YouTube sensation known for its “Auto-Tune the News” series—out of hiding.

“GET MONEY, TURN GAY” is the Brothers’ first song in two months and features Hollywood actor and musician Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays “a Union leader of something or other,”  intercut with news and GOP debate footage. The end of the almost three-minute song leads to an astounding applause.

One lyric has already become a crowd favorite: “Not a single straight gene in his DNA.
’Cause he’s turnin’ turnin’ turnin’ turnin’
Turnin’ gay!”

Uploaded on Monday, YouTubers have been swooning over both Gordon-Levitt and Vermin. Others were excited that “Auto-Tune the News” was back (though, now it appears to be “Songify the News”).

For the Gregory Brothers, it’s an appropriate return. The family’s first YouTube experiments centered around the presidential debates of 2008, Sarah Gregory told the Daily Dot last year.

“Good job on your editing skills! Improved a lot, looks like a new greenscreen, cam and lights,”
wrote Bejk.  (Perhaps that’s what they were doing during their break?)

Will the Gregory Brothers Auto-Tune President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight? The Daily Dot can only hope.
