Just under a month after a helicopter accident killed basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others, Kobe’s wife Vanessa Bryant is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Express Helicopters.
The complaint says that the Express Helicopters’ pilot “failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff” in addition to failing to “abort the flight” when he saw the cloudy conditions, according to People.
Additionally, Vanessa’s lawsuit says that Express Helicopters “should have known” that the Federal Aviation Administration had previously cited the pilot Ara Zobayan, who also died in the crash, for ignoring weather conditions unsafe for flying.
Express Helicopters told People in response to the lawsuit that it was a “tragic accident,” and that they had no comment about any “pending litigation.”
