In The Breakfast Club, John Hughes taught us that his beloved characters were more than just their stereotypes as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal.
Now, we’re learning that there’s more to the characters than just the 97 minutes we see of them on-screen, too. In fact, there’s just about 50 minutes of footage viewers have never seen before that will be available Jan. 2, according to CNN.
The Criterion Collection plans to re-release The Breakfast Club in 4K digital restoration, along with never-before-seen footage, interviews with cast members, and a photo essay featuring Hughe’s production notes. The re-release comes just in time for the 30th anniversary of the film.

In case you can’t wait until Jan. 2, Vulture published one of the previously unreleased scenes between Molly Ringwald’s Claire and Ally Sheedy’s Allison on Thursday. If you thought Allison was strange for putting potato chips in her sandwich during their lunch break, that was just the beginning.
In the clip, the duo hangout inside the school bathroom. Claire calls out Allison for eating chips just feet away from a toilet (ew), and Allison silently responds by slowly dropping a chip in the sink and then putting it in her mouth (double ew). It’s surprisingly nauseating to watch.
