Not every holiday trends on Twitter, but then again, not every holiday is dedicated to the intramammary cleft—cleavage—that anatomical wonder that rests conveniently at eye-level for every teenage boy with a heart of gold and imagination that just won’t quit.
Yes, today is National Cleavage Day. Hoorah! Celebrate! Let your hair down! Unbutton your shirt just a little bit!
On Twitter, the celebration has been running since the crack of dawn. More than 22,000 tweets have been posted with mention to National Cleavage Day, with some tweets, like this one from grime rapper Dizzee Rascal, (link is NOT safe for work), coming Great Britain.
From the United States to across the Atlantic Ocean, people are taking the opportunity to tweet about tits.
“Everyone enjoy National Cleavage Day. / ( . Y . ) ,” wrote actor Devin Sawa, creepily.
“Today is National Cleavage Day!” echoed popular parody account @notbillwalton. “Ladies, be proud of your twins, be bold, show them off, throw them down, and set the world on fire.”
“When in doubt, bring the boobs out” wrote @bitchybrunette. “Happy National Cleavage Day!”
Bring the boobs out, indeed, but remember to keep it all in perspective. As actor Ian Somerhalder made abundantly clear in his National Cleavage day tweet:
“Be respectful boys.Seriously.”
And then again, cleave doesn’t always necessarily refer to breasts (warning: not safe for your eyes).
