Tina Fey has had so many eras over the course of her career, it can be easy to forget what a pioneer for women in comedy she truly is.
She was the first female head writer at Saturday Night Live and has since gone on to write and star in movies and create and star in huge shows like 30 Rock. Now, she has her own Mean Girls musical on Broadway. The Tonight Show ran an edition of its fan surprise segment Thursday night where Fey appreciators were stopped in the lobby after a Mean Girls show to express their feelings about the iconic comedian, and then she actually jumped out and hugged them mid-speech.
Seeing the impact she’s had on her fans’ lives (and imaginations) is actually pretty moving when you see it lined up back-to-back like this. Watch the segment below:
