He’s cooler than he lets on, but noted Replacements and David Bowie fan Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) just made a full-on dad joke.
Calling into North Carolina’s No Limit Larry & The Morning Maddhouse on Power 98 FM on Wednesday, the vice presidential hopeful couldn’t resist commenting on Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne‘s “No Problem,” which spun prior to the chat.
“Hey Larry and Jessica I’m doing great,” Kaine says. “They call me Lil’ Kaine—not Lil’ Wayne.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Kaine elaborates on his campaign playlist, which includes Isley Brothers, Gnarls Barkley, Sly and the Family Stone, and Dave Matthews Band.
“As we’re traveling around two or three states a day when we hit our last flight we just pump up a speaker,” Kaine says. “The whole team trades songs.”
The rest of the interview, which gets into the weeds on Kaine’s background as a civil rights lawyer who fought housing discrimination, police, and the economy, is available on the Power 98 FM website.
