There’s a SuperNerd somewhere in America who will do anything to stay connected to his family—even if that means creating a YouTube mission with his 5-year-old nephew.

“My family is terribly important to me, and I would do anything for them,” Ben, a member of the United States Navy who did not wish to provide his last name or current location, told the Daily Dot. “I try to keep in contact as much as possible because I don’t want to miss out on [my nieces’ and nephew’s] childhoods.

“I never want to be ‘that uncle who was always away.’”

That’s a tough thing to accomplish when you’re stationed far away from your family for months and months at a time. Sometimes the distance requires an extra creative effort to really feel like your connecting with your family members.

In the case of Ben and Cade, that distance calls for a team like the “SuperNerds,” a highly intelligent underground team determined to keep our president safe.

Ben started putting “SuperNerds” together after he received an email from his sister containing a video of Cade saying that he missed him.

“It was heart wrenching,” Ben said. “Instead of sending a response, I wanted to create something we could do together from a distance. So I layed down on my bed and stared at my ceiling until I came up with the idea,” an idea he said he gleaned from Jeremiah McDonald’s great “Conversation with my 12 Year Old Self.”

Ben emailed his sister a series of lines to get Cade to say into the camera. She gave Cade a keyboard and told him to strike the keys like he was typing out a message.

Ben’s sister emailed Cade’s lines back to Ben a few hours later, and he extracted the clips that provided for the best narrative. Then he set up and recorded his parts so that they would best play along with the way that Cade said each of his lines.

“He had no idea I was going to throw ‘Call Me Maybe’ in there until it was completed,” Ben said. “Same with the ‘hotdog’ description.”

It took Ben three hours to edit the clips together and finalize the first edition of “SuperNerds.” He uploaded it to YouTube and sent it to his sister, who posted it to Reddit yesterday afternoon. Since then, the video has received over 63,000 views.

“Honestly, this is all crazy,” Ben said. “I’ve never done anything like this before.”

Ben plans to travel back home to his native Wisconsin for Christmas. Then, the SuperNerds will reunite and order will be restored to this crazy, mixed up world.

“Until then, we may just need to have some more distant adventures together,” he said.
