Like most people with a pulse in the early aughts, Solange Knowles had a crush on Brandon Boyd from the band Incubus. And Wednesday night, she got to live her dream of performing with him.
For anyone who needs their memory jogged, he was always topless and emotional, but like in a philosophical way? Like maybe he really understood more about outer space and love than the rest of us did? Even without the weed?

In a recent letter to Teen Vogue, Solange described her teen years as a lot of diving “head first without looking” into phases without being certain of who she really was. And one of those phases was “Rasta-vegan-thrifter-who-is-determined-to-marry-Brandon-Boyd phase.” Iconic.
As Jezebel points out, though, the crush was actually “well documented” before her Teen Vogue letter. “You can actually catch an Incubus poster in the video for her 2002 song ‘Feelin You,’ of which she has said ‘I may or may have not have written this song about Brandon Boyd.’” Are you excited for her yet?
It turns out the band had a show in Knowles’ hometown of New Orleans Wednesday night, and she was able to join them onstage to perform “Aqueous Transmission.” Fan videos of the performance suggest Boyd is topless for the performance, too, so she really got to live the full fantasy.
