Stream FuboTV to get a streaming service that brings lots of channels and lots of sports.

Featured Video
  • FuboTV started life as a streaming service geared toward sports fans, but now offers much more, with more than 100 channels in its baseline package.
  • Fubo brought a slate of 20 new channels on board last August. Disney Media channels arriving include ESPN, ESPN2, the Disney Channel (and ABC in select markets). This directly addressed one of the main cons on the “Should I get Fubo?” pros-and-cons worksheet.
  • Fubo starts at $59.99 a month for its Standard Package, with added screens in its Fubo Family and extra channels in its Fubo Elite upgrade. There’s also a Fubo Español package for Spanish-speaking and bilingual households.

  • Fubo also features some original sports programming to augment its already-solid package of channels. The $6.99 a month Sports Plus package ensures you have them all.
  • FuboTV also offers a variety of cloud DVR options.

If you’re a soccer fan, you may have been in the first group of people to hear about FuboTV. The service, which launched in 2015, has grown impressively from its sports-streaming origins to become one of the best streaming values on the market, especially considering the channels you get in even its baseline package. While its competitors still have better multiple screen situations, and while it might lean toward the pricier end of the streaming spectrum, Fubo’s made itself a solid streaming service on the whole.

How much is FuboTV? Plans, channels, and cost

FuboTV keeps its plans simple, offering three basic packages that start at $54.99 per month.

Pro$69.99
Latino$79.99
Elite$79.99

Fubo Standard

  • Cost: $54.99 per month
  • Channels: 96 (or more, depending on market)
  • Cloud DVR: 30 hours of space
  • Simultaneous screens: 2

Your FuboTV channel lineup may differ slightly from what you see below based on your local listings, but you do have the potential to get ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC among your cable staples. The addition of more than 20 channels from the Disney Media agreement brought welcome additions like ESPN and the Disney Channel to the lineup.

That did, however, get offset a bit by Fubo shedding some Turner channels the month before. You’ll need to venture elsewhere for CNN, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, and several other Turner entities.

Note that its more than 100 channels are fattened with eight BeIN Sports channels and 11 spillover TUDN channels, which you’ll likely only use if you’re deep into a soccer tournament, but Fubo still offers a big selection compared to like-priced streaming services.

It’s also worth noting that NFL Network is included in the standard package. FuboTV also has the Viacom networks, which means you can watch channels like MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and VH1.

For Latino customers, this package gives you more than 30 Spanish language channels. What else is on FuboTV?

While Fubo still features some of the best international sports options on the market, it has evolved into a wonderfully full-featured service. You’ll get basically every channel you could ever want out of a cable package. There are movies, on-demand content, MTV, VH1, MSNBC, and local channels, all in easy-to-understand packages—and the Disney media suite onboarded in Summer 2020.

FuboTV Originals

FuboTV launched a few sports shows in the fall of 2019 to break into the originals game, including two with sports TV personality-turned-comedian Julie Stewart-Binks (“Call It a Night with Julie Stewart-Binks” and “Drinks with Binks”), one with two comedians-turned-sports personalities (“The Cooligans”), and another with two former athletes (“The Players Lounge with Cobi Jones and PJ Harrison”).

Also, FuboTV is the only service currently offering 4K sporting events on streaming TV. They have a limited number of 4K sports streams each month, but the variety is impressive. In the coming months, subscribers will get everything from NCAA Men’s Basketball to Super Bowl LIV in 4K at no added charge. It’s covered in your subscription if your device supports 4k.

Local Channels

Local TV fans owe it to themselves to check out FuboTV. FuboTV offers FOX, NBC, and CBS to most users who sign up, and ABC has come online in some markets. There are exceptions depending on contracts in different parts of the country. However, FuboTV has made support of local TV stations a massive part of its business model. For the vast majority of the country, FuboTV is a reliable home for local channels.

FuboTV add-ons

One area where FuboTV packages really shine is in the add-on channels. In addition to the aforementioned Fubo Latino add-on, FuboTV offers seven additional add-on packages geared towards specific interests. One thing to keep in mind however is how many of these add-on channels come with the Fubo Ultra package. If you’re interested in more than one, it might be worth going ahead and upgrading your package to save some money.

Sports Plus with NFL RedZone

Cost: $6.99 per month

I don’t even think of this as an add-on; it’s essential. You get one of the best ways to stream NFL RedZone line and all the college sports you can handle.

FuboTV Streaming Devices

FuboTV can be used on a range of devices. Here’s what you can stream FuboTV on. (Note that if you’re viewing via a web browser, there’s a mini video player allowing you to watch Fubo while you’re otherwise engaging Fubo on your browser.)

FuboTV DVR and multiple screens

Every FuboTV account comes with 30 hours of free cloud DVR as part of membership. There are add-ons to build up your storage capabilities beyond that. Cloud DVR 250 (at $9.99 per month) or Cloud DVR 1000 (at $16.99 per month) provides 250 and 1000 hours of storage respectively.

As for Unlimited Screens, sadly, FuboTV isn’t there just yet. But at five screens at the Elite level, you’ll likely have what you need. At lower tiers, you can add screens via Family Share ($5.99 per month for 3 streams) and Family Share Max ($9.99 per month for 5 streams on home internet, 2 streams on the go). Getting both allows a subscriber an additional to-go stream.

FuboTV on-demand and offline viewing

FuboTV has poured a ton of effort into its on-demand options, making it easy for viewers to quickly find content based on genre or theme. Shows and movies are sorted by genre, in an easy to navigate menu. This organization is great because FuboTV doesn’t own its on-demand content, it simply streams what the networks provide. Still it’s nice that they put the user interface first when some other streaming TV services treat on-demand like an afterthought.

At the moment, FuboTV is purely a streaming TV service and does not offer any methods for watching content offline.

FuboTV vs. the Competition

Hulu with Live TV vs. Fubo

In a head-to-head match up the battle between Hulu and FuboTV comes down to channels and ESPN. Each service costs $54.99 per month and offers roughly the same experience with multiple screens and DVR. FuboTV offers far more channels, with 110+ compared to Hulu Live TV’s 60+, but Hulu with Live TV has ESPN, where FuboTV does not. Hulu with Live TV also includes a Hulu streaming membership, giving it effectively the largest on-demand library of any service. It’s a difficult choice. We’d say for major soccer fans or anyone who wants to watch the Super Bowl in 4K, FuboTV is a no-brainer. But this is a close tie.

Sling TV vs. Fubo

FuboTV and Sling are essentially polar opposites. Sling TV is a budget-minded streaming service with small packages of channels. FuboTV has one of the largest packages of channels in the industry. The one area that Sling TV bests FuboTV is in carrying ESPN, which you can get from Sling TV for $30 per month in the Orange package. Outside of that one channel and Sling’s lower start-up cost, FuboTV beats Sling TV in every regard. Unless your budget is tight, we’re on FuboTV’s side here.

AT&T TV Now vs. FuboTV

There are too many good streaming TV services on the market to recommend AT&T Now to anyone. For the last two years, this writer has subscribed to DirecTV Now, a relationship that recently ended due to AT&T effectively ruining the service. Since the switch, this writer has experienced fewer channels, higher costs, worse apps, and terrible communication. FuboTV is an easy winner here.

YouTube TV vs. FuboTV

Of all the services, FuboTV needs to worry about, YouTube TV may be its biggest and least expected threat. YouTube TV lets viewers have unlimited DVR for every family member who uses the account. The one area where FuboTV really beats YouTube TV is sports and 4K. FuboTV is the only place to watch the Super Bowl in 4K on streaming TV right now. FuboTV, with its ESPN addition, edges YouTube TV in amounts of sports offered, though you have to pay slightly more to get all of it. Ultimately it’s a matter of where your priorities lay. Each service is well worth your time; it just comes down to your needs.

Is FuboTV worth it?

When it launched, FuboTV was a promising yet flawed product. Originally, the service was largely focused on streaming sports, meaning it often had more sports than entertainment.

That’s dramatically changed in the years since. FuboTV now offers one of the largest packages of channels and features of any streaming TV service, while maintaining its original focus on sports. From international to American leagues, Fubo TV is a sports fan’s dream with one minor exception. The service doesn’t have ESPN. While that will limit some of the games you can see, it’s a minor complaint in the scheme of things.

On the entertainment front, FuboTV’s growth is incredible. You get everything from Comedy Central and Cartoon Network to MTV and History. There are over 100 channels on the standard plan, far more than anyone else is offering for the same cost.

If you’re looking to keep the sports fans in your family just as happy as everyone else, FuboTV is a smart idea. But even if you don’t care about sports, this is a great service. We highly recommend FuboTV for large families with varied tastes, 4K sports fans, and anyone who loves soccer.
