Hurricane Isaac isn’t the only storm brewing out there. Samuel L. Jackson has stirred up one of his own on Twitter.
“Unfair shit. GOP spared by Issac! NOLA prolly Fucked Again! Not understanding God’s plan!” tweeted the “Avengers” star on Aug. 27.
The late afternoon posting almost immediately received widespread attention. It received close to 1000 retweets within 12 hours and prompted a number angry responses.
“I’m saddened that @SamuelLJackson is wishing me harm. Politics doesn’t have to be personal” tweeted conservative talk show host and columnist Armstrong Williams.
“@SamuelLJackson No, we get heated when no-talent actors wish calamity on some1 bcause of politics. U are a crappy jedi @ a worse American” tweeted apparent Mace Windu hater CJ Grisham.
Upon seeing the criticism start to pour in, Jackson responded:
“Daayum! Poked a Hornets nest, hunh? Apologies to God, Tampa, da GOP& Isaac(sp)! Who played the Race card?!,” he tweeted just a half-hour later.
He later added: “Whoooo! A lotta shit stirred into a Bullshit tweet! Politics & Religion get MUHFREPUBLICANS heated!”
Jackson’s follow-up tweets prompted a continuous, heated response on Twitter. Some offended users told him they’d refuse to watch his upcoming films, apparently hoping to terrify the multi-millionaire with the prospect of losing out on a few ticket sales.
However, not all of the responses to Jackson’s tweet were negative. Some users begged Jackson to livetweet the RNC.
In 2005, rapper Kanye West made international headlines when, during a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina victims, stated “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
There must be something about hurricane season that stirs up Republican-hating celebrities.
