RuPaul, who literally built a media empire around drag queens and his own brand, will have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

RuPaul, whose career started as a club entertainer in the ‘80s New York City scene, has had a fire year. He won an Emmy and more recently accepted an MTV Award—plus married his longtime sweetheart, rancher Georges LeBar.

The drag diva joins Snoop Dogg, Shonda Rhimes, “Weird Al” Yankovic, as well as late stars Bernie Mac and Steve Irwin, and many others in receiving a star honor for 2018.

The gays are pleased, of course.

The announcement comes the same day as the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The only downside is the best reality show on television is coming to the end of a venomous season.  Catch the finale—and RuPaul, creator and receiver of stars—at 8pm ET on VH1.
