Let the Jerry Seinfeld Netflix takeover begin.
In January Netflix announced a $100-million partnership with the comedian, and the company revealed on Tuesday that the first venture between the two will be an hour-long standup special debuting next month, Jerry Before Seinfeld.
And that’s just the beginning: Not only did Netflix receive streaming rights to Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but it’s also guaranteed a 24-episode exclusive 10th season of the series.
“In the hour-long special, Jerry Seinfeld returns to The Comic Strip in New York City for an intimate stand-up set at the club that helped launch his career,” a Netflix press release said. The special also promises rare, previously unreleased footage from Seinfeld’s early days in comedy.
Netflix has been doing a stellar job loading up its comedy roster. Seinfield will be joining an elite cast of Netflix recruits including David Letterman, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chappelle, and more. It’s also been making good on its promise to pepper 2017 with weekly new comedy specials.
Netflix uploaded numerous videos and photos of the Bee Movie star Monday to Instagram.
Jerry Before Seinfeld lands on Netflix Sept. 19.
