Rock legend Neil Young has very strong opinions about the NHL lockout. It’s all about greed or, as he put it so succinctly Wednesday afternoon: “money money money money money money money.”
That and other facts were revealed when the musician took to Twitter for a live chat with his fans on Oct. 24. Young, who gained over 39,000 followers since joining Twitter only a month ago, hosted the chat to promote his new album “Psychedelic Pill” (Young explains the significance of the album name below).
Using the hashtag #askneil, fans discussed everything from Young’s music to his legacy to gay rights—and even his thoughts on the role of computers in modern-day life.
The chat kicked off on a serious note, with user Karen Bennett asking a question about drug addiction.
Do you have any friends who have overcome heroin addiction? I have a 21 yr old daughter in rehab. (@bennett933)
“@bennett933 Yes, I do have friends who have overcome heroin addiction. She should just stay with it.”
What’s the significance of the name Psychedelic Pill (@rod_sims)
“@rod_sims it is a pill that induces psychedelia.”
Do you think our relationship to the past and our memory is changing because of our relationship to computers? (@KateMadd)
“@KateMadd Yes, I think it is”
What do you think about gay people like me , is being gay ok to you #askneil I hope so (@crissy11823862)
“@Crissy11823862 gay is good”
Your thoughts on the NHL Lockout? (@glenbarkwith)
“@glenbarkwith money money money money money money money”
My dad’s been a diehard fan since the start and he passed it on to me. what does it mean to have fans across multi generations? (@BHLjournalism)
“@BHLjournalism if you’re still alive, it means you’re getting old. I think that’s what it means”
Midway through the chat, Young even posted a picture to prove that he was indeed the person answering the tweets.
The chat’s very last question was posed by Young himself.
