Naomi Jon wanted to give herself semi-permanent freckles and film it all for her fans. Unfortunately for the German YouTube star, the session turned into a complete disaster.
Instagrammer uglysxegirl used henna to put freckles on her face earlier this year, and Naomi Jon loved the idea and the result.

Why wouldn’t it work for Naomi Jon?
Well, she’ll show you exactly why.
As the beauty vlogger explained in the video, Naomi Jon was inspired to dot her face after meeting with uglysxegirl in person. Naomi Jon said she didn’t recognize the Instagrammer at first and said, “Girl, I love your freckles. They’re so pretty.” She was blown away when uglysxegirl revealed that they were fake.
That gave Naomi Jon the courage to try it for YouTube. But it didn’t go as planned.
After testing the henna dye on a white envelope, she began applying it to her face. She started underneath her right eye, moved up to her nose, and then continued to the right side of her face above her cheek.
“It burns a little bit,” she said. “Is that normal? … I have no idea if I’m doing this right … This is either really brave or dumb.”
A few minutes into the experiment, her skin began to turn red, which she jokingly said “is a very good sign.”
Soon, she determined she needed to wash the henna off her face, but she couldn’t. It was stuck there (the inventor of henna would likely consider that a success). Naomi Jon lamented that she’d have to call in sick to work the next day, and though somebody suggested she cover it with foundation, she replied in German, “This is super intense. No foundation can cover this.”
She then tried the foundation idea and Shape Tape, but it didn’t have much of an effect. Next, she tried heavier foundation. But when she removed all of her makeup, it looked like her face was bleeding. So, not great.
She tried other solutions to make the freckles less intense looking, but her YouTube description told the tale: “WELLLLLL,” she wrote, “sometimes I make bad decisions. This was one of them.”
Some good news, though: With more than 1.3 million page views on the video in three days, Naomi Jon, who has 619,000 subscribers, made herself go viral with her most-watched vlog of the year. What’s a little facial scarring for that kind of reach?
