Here at the Daily Dot, we have an unofficial tradition of sharing GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you into the circle. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.
In 2009 Stephen met Stephen, as in Colbert and King. And that moment still reverberates for some to this day.
It certainly made an impression on Colbert, the political satirist, who’d invited the famed horror writer to appear on The Colbert Report for a little chat about King’s new book.
The interview seemed to be going smoothly until Colbert shook King’s hand. At that moment, Colbert launched into one of his off-kilter fantasy sequence inspired by King’s book-turned-movie, The Shining. Eventually both Stephens turned up wearing red sweaters—just like Jack Nicholson in the movie version.
That moment was memorialized in a GIF that reached the top of Reddit’s r/gifs section. Redditor ShittyLimericks even created a short poem to honor the animation
Stephen King’s a great writer, it’s true
Way better than either me or you
But does anyone think,
And of course here’s a link
That he looks just a bit like a “who?”
