Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.
It takes audacity to master a master: in this case Paul Klee, protean painter, passable musician, and master of color theory.
Klee’s 1923 “Two Tents” is an abstract work playing with dimensionality and the stark, geometric forms of the tents through graduated bands of harmonic colors, giving a sense of movement and projection on the two-dimensional surface of the painting.
Zach S, of the We Invent You Tumblr, isn’t afraid to take on a classic. He’s taken the original and remixed it, changing colors completely and making explicit the rhythm that was only implicit in the original. Tumblr approves, giving his GIF 3,062 notes to the original’s 123 notes.
Sorry, Master. Things move faster nowadays.
