Does Little Mac dream of electric Mike Tyson fists?
Little Mac, in case you’re unaware, is the star of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, the smash hit Nintendo boxing game from the 1980s. Little Mac’s entire 8-bit purpose was to eventually knock out Mike Tyson and be crowned world champion. Only problem was, Mike Tyson was hard as shit to beat—and took hours to get to.
Some Internet magician—an animated GIF-maker— has turned the 8-bit characters dream into permanent reality.
In the GIF below, Little Mac fights real Mike Tyson, over and over again, going fist-to-fist like the world champion he always wanted to be. And lucky for him, Mike Tyson is kind of old and appears to no longer eat ears. (The clip is from his guest spot in 2009’s The Hangover, after all. Tyson was 43 at the time).
Regardless, thank you, nameless GIF maker, for merging 1980s video games and aughts comedies starring Zach Galifianakis into one of the greatest GIFs ever. History will remember you.
