Luke Skywalker was a just curious young farmhand from the Tatooine Outback, an orphan and a loner, cleaning up his second-hand droid for work one day when he was suddenly thrust into the center of a plot for galaxy-wide revolution. The droid bleeped to life and burped up a holographic message from a beautiful girl from a world far, far away—a message of revolution, of danger, of heroism.
She didn’t seem too concerned about the whole thing.
There’s no question Lana Del Rey of pop fame has better hair and wardrobe than Princess Leia Organa of the Rebel Alliance, but girl has no sense of urgency whatsoever. It would appear that Planet Del Rey is rich in natural deposits of Xanax, because “Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only remaining hope” is just not a line that requires a blasé pirouette.
