Even Batman has some wise words to pass onto younger generations come commencement time.
Michael Keaton, who played the Dark Knight in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns, gave the commencement speech at Kent State University, which he attended as an undergrad, last week. Although Keaton never graduated from Kent State, he had plenty of insight from his decades-long career to offer students. But before he left the stage, he had one last thing to remind the students.
It’s only two words—and he’s nowhere near the last actor to utter them—but they’ll surely stick with everyone who watched it.

But while Keaton’s mic drop is getting all of the attention, the speech itself is worth checking out. He detailed his time at the school and his decision to drop out and head to Hollywood, something that even his sister questioned him about. And to that, Keaton told her that he didn’t want to regret not trying.
“There’s nothing I love more than people who try,” Keaton said. “You have to take risks. I’m going to ask you to take risks whenever you can. Put yourself on the line. Don’t be afraid to look foolish. Make mistakes. Take chances. It’s one of the best things you can do.”
