Anthology series are so hot right now, and Amazon is getting its own version soon.
Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner has sold a new series to Amazon, according to Deadline. The show does not yet have a name, but will allegedly be an eight-episode anthology series shot at different locations around the world. Weiner is set to direct half those episodes.
The deal, in collaboration with the Weinstein Company, cost $70 million, and was in a bidding war with six platforms.
In the time since Mad Men went off the air, Weiner wrote a novel and directed one of Orange Is the New Black season 4’s most gut-wrenching episodes.
