What better way to celebrate science and Earth Day during the March for Science than with a song about a scientist falling in love with his lab assistant!
The March for Science in Washington D.C. saw speeches Saturday from scientists and engineers, and viral science heroes including Bill Nye, Little Miss Flint Amariyanna “Mari” Copeny, and astronaut Leland Melvin. But all speakers and performers at the pre-march rally had no choice but to gracefully concede to the one true great act of the day: Thomas Dolby performing “She Blinded Me With Science.”
Complete with mad scientist sound bites and pilot goggles, Dolby rocked the march with the lighthearted tune, even changing the last interjection of “she blinded me with science” in the song to a woman saying, “I believe in science!” Dolby’s performance reminded audiences that even the most fervent of fights against “alternative facts” need a crowdpleaser.
