On Thursday evening, Lady Gaga confirmed the rumors: She’s performing at the Super Bowl.
It’s not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA! @nfl @FOXTV @pepsi #PERFECTILLUSION #GAGASUPERBOWL pic.twitter.com/qR4O57451G

Tying in the announcement with a nod to her new single, “Perfect Illusion,” Gaga will no doubt have a lot of new material to perform: Her latest album, Joanne, drops in October.
This news was floating around earlier this month, but the NFL was evasive about confirming. Lady Gaga will be just the fifth woman to headline a Super Bowl halftime show: She sang the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl, though in the months since, the song has become a point of protest.
What does the Venn diagram of football fans and Lady Gaga fans look like? We’ll find out Feb. 5.
