In a video posted Wednesday, KSI said his amateur boxing rematch vs. Logan Paul won’t be in February like one British online gambling site predicted. Instead, he said he won’t return to the ring vs. Paul until November, and he wants the fight to occur in either Boston or New York.
“I’m going to kill the rumor right now,” he said. “It’s not happening in February. I’m OK with that. I’ve got my own shit going on.”
KSI said there have been a few issues that have delayed the rematch. According to KSI, Paul’s team hasn’t figured out the licensing processes for whichever U.S. state they’re going to fight, and Paul’s representation apparently hasn’t begun looking for venues yet. There are no distribution deals that have been struck, a process KSI said will take four months, and he said the two sides still need to figure out how to protect the live stream from being illegally pirated (this is a big concern because more than 1 million people watched their first battle on illegal streams).
He also said if the fight is on the West Coast of the U.S., it would hurt viewership because it would be an inconvenient time for those who live in the U.K. (a fight that starts at, say, 7pm PT would begin in the middle of the night in England). That’s why he wants the bout on the East Coast. Still, KSI is confident that he’ll beat Paul this time after the two fought to a draw in the first fight.
“Trust me, Logan, this time I will finish you,” KSI said. “… Now, I know how you fight. You’re fucked … Last year, Logan, I saved you. This year, I’m ending you.”
Here’s KSI’s entire video.
The original story follows.
A date has reportedly been leaked for the much-anticipated rematch between YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, according to Dexerto.
A British online gambling company Bet365 shows that the two are scheduled for a boxing match on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at 3pm.
The two have been set for a rematch since they drew in a match in August, following a palpable build-up with several incidents inflaming their beef and building up to the fight. Their taunts began as early as June when the two bumped into each other at a Los Angeles bar and had a verbal altercation.
Their trash-talk ranged from commenting on KSI’s head size to Paul’s parents.
A few days later, KSI attacked Paul at a press conference in Los Angeles, which almost ended in a brawl.
If Bet365 is accurate, the fight would come a full year following the post-match interview that started it. In February 2018, KSI called out Paul following a boxing match in which he knocked out YouTuber Joe Weller, which eventually sparked off the conversation surrounding a boxing match between Paul and KSI. They eventually landed on the August 2018 date.
In a contract apparently leaked in September, Paul and KSI were supposed to schedule a rematch for February 2019, but Paul blasted KSI on his podcast Impaulsive for not having scheduled a rematch.
KSI’s trainer had estimated the rematch would take place later in 2019. With millions of followers for each of the two fighters, their match in August was slated to be “the biggest live YouTube event in history.” So it’s only fair that fans want to see them square off again as soon as 2019 rolls in.
