Film director Wes Anderson and rapper Kanye West are pretty much the same person—at least according to Kanye Wes
The single-serving Tumblr, created on Aug. 26, 2012, combines stills from Anderson’s iconic films (most prominently The Royal Tenenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom) and superimposes West’s lyrics on them in Futura font—the director’s typeface of choice—or vice versa, images of the rapper coupled with lines of dialog written by the filmmaker.
The pairings work so well largely because both artists share a similar obsession with aesthetic. Kanye West is well-known for his fashionista tendencies, something that bleeds into his music. Similarly, one of the most recognizable trademarks in Wes Anderson movies is how meticulously constructed they are.
The two are also beloved by a slew of middle- and upper-class white kids.
Without further ado, below are four of the better images posted on Kanye Wes, including the name of the film and song quoted.
