Justin Bieber caught his first break on YouTube. Now he’s returning the favor.
Jon M. Chu, Bieber’s tour director, announced on YouTube that his crew is looking for dancers to accompany the teen sensation on his upcoming global Believe tour. Along with choreographer Nick DeMoura, Chu acknowledged that in-person auditions can limit the talent the tour can garner, so they’re using YouTube to open the process.
“There’s a lot of talent out there that we want to see, so we’re opening up our auditions,” Chu. said. DeMoura added that they are looking for all type of users:
“Whatever you have that you think you can share to try and become part of the Believe tour that we might be able to utilize—show that.”
If you have a unique way of pop-locking or dropping it, record your video and upload it to YouTube using the hashtag #BELIEVETOURAUDITIONS to be considered for the gig. Perspective dancers have until Aug. 17 at 9pm PT to submit their videos.
A search for the hashtag reveals fewer than 1,000 auditions, with some one of them appearing to be MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew castaways.
I can’t stop staring at the chrome text, awkward dancing, and graphics on this one. Naturally, one 14-year-old girl submitted a video with the description “I’m a belieber so YOLO!”
