Actor Josh Gad tweeted on Thursday to mourn the loss of his friend’s son who died in the mass high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
On Wednesday, Gad had tweeted that he was “so angry” and “so sad” to learn his friend’s child was in critical condition after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Gad also called for stricter gun legislation, something many Democratic lawmakers and people involved have demanded in the wake of the shooting.
“I’m putting my phone down because we are debating sensible gun laws again,” Gad tweeted. “A child of one of our friend’s has a bullet in his chest & is critical condition because a 19 year old had access to a military weapon. Pretend it’s normal. It’s not.”

Thursday morning, Gad tweeted that his friend’s son had died from his injuries.
“Last night, I received a text while I slept that our friend’s son passed away from his gun shot wound. My grief for this family and the many others knows no bounds. I’m so sorry this happened,” he tweeted.

He criticized political leaders for their stagnation on gun control.
“I’m so sorry our leaders are worthless,” Gad tweeted. “I’m so sorry we are bound to repeat this again.”
Seventeen people were killed in the mass shooting. A former student of the school, Nikolas Cruz, has reportedly confessed to the killings and is in police custody.
