Actor and comedian Joel Kim Booster will star and serve as showrunner for Quibi series Trip, a romantic comedy set on New York City’s Fire Island. The show will be developed by Booster (The Other Two, Sunnyside) and Jax Media, which produced Netflix’s hit series Russian Doll and The Other Two.
Booster will write the show, a queer, modern-day rom-com, primarily inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The story revolves around best friends set to enjoy a monster summer vacation, with a host of intriguing characters along the way.
“For the last couple of years I’ve been threatening to pitch a gay Pride and Prejudice adaptation that takes place entirely on Fire Island and I finally found a platform foolish enough to do it!!” Booster tweeted Wednesday.
