Jimmy Fallon wants to take you backstage, and you don’t even need a guest pass.
On “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Interactive Backstage Tour,” available on YouTube, fans can peek into different areas of his NBC show’s studio and office at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. Since it was posted on Friday, the first video of the tour has racked up 7,000 views.
A waggish page named Booner hosts the show, guiding viewers through the seemingly endless studio. At the end of each video, fans are given options on where they want to go next by clicking a button. Some options include Fallons’ office, the guests dress room, the writer’s room, and control room.
In another video, Fallon’s house band, The Roots, also gives a tour of their office/recording studio.
There’s a running joke in the videos to look for a roaming Yeti who seems to pop-up in various scenes. It’s painfully unfunny. But we did enjoy tours of the prop kitchen (look for Tariq from The Roots in the background) and a look at the Muppet Pipes, created by Muppets creator Jim Hansen.
Fallon isn’t the first television show to utilize a “choose-your-own-adventure” video to interact with fans. Prior to Mad Men’s fifth season premiere in March, YouTube stars the Fine Brothers launched an 8-bit adventure starring Don Draper.
