Legendary songwriter and visionary John Lennon died 31 years ago today. Thousands of people around the world, especially on Twitter, are paying their respects to the former Beatles singer.
Lennon has been a worldwide trending topic since midnight, collecting more than 50,000 mentions from people sharing song lyrics, photographs, and kind words in honor of the English musician, led by his wife Yoko Ono. Some people also paid their respect with the emoticon, ((ºJº)), a reference to Lennon’s iconic Imagine illustration, which was previously made into a Google doodle last year.
