Guadalajara at Atlas: Preview

Chivas will try to extend their win streak to three this weekend, when they make the cross-town trip to take on Atlas in the Clásico Tapatío. C.D. Guadalajara has won two of its last three games at Estadio Jalisco, and with Atlas at the bottom of the table, it very well could be three out of four. Former DC United and current Atlas playmaker Luciano Acosta is questionable to start, since the player is accused of having ordered an assault on a Guadalajara woman he was allegedly having an affair with.

Guadalajara at Atlas live stream: How to watch Liga MX matches

The match is on FuboTV, Sling TV, AT&T TV Now and Vidgo; these streaming services provide fans the opportunity to catch Liga MX action throughout the season.

2) Sling TV

Sling TV

Sling TV provides two base channel package options, each priced at $30 per month. Sling Orange includes three ESPN channels, while Sling Blue includes sports channels like NBCSN (where many Premier League matches appear), NFL Network, and local channels. (Sling Blue customers in select markets get NBC, where some matches appear; see if yours has it here.) Sling Blue also brings Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and Headline News as part of its regular slate of channels, with Fox Business Channel available for those who get the Sling Blue News Extra add-on.

If you’re Team “Why Not Both,” Sling Orange + Blue combines the two for just $45 per month.

Other features include a Free Cloud DVR tier for all subscribers (allowing 10 hours of recording a month), the ability to record all live linear channels, and no VOD preemption on any channels. New subscribers get $10 off the first month.

To add beIN SPORTS and ESPN Deportes and maximize your soccer-watching potential, you’ll want to add either Sports Extra: Sling Orange ($5 per month) or Sports Extra: Sling Blue ($10 per month). (The latter also includes NFL RedZone.)

Spanish-speaking viewers have quite a few options. For bilingual families, you might consider the Español: Best of Spanish TV package for either Sling Orange or Sling Blue for 24/7 specialty channel LaLiga TV and beIN SPORTS Connect: Channels 4-9, which features matches from La Liga, Ligue 1 and Copa del Rey, among others. Both packages cost $5 per month after your free trial. Sling TV Latino is another Spanish-language package for $10 per month, including NBC Universo, History en Español, and—of import to soccer fans—four beIN SPORTS channels. (And choosing Best of Spanish + Sling Orange for $35 per month gives you access to ESPN Deportes.) For more information, check out our guide to Sling TV channels and our Sling TV review.

Guadalajara at Atlas: Recent form, summary of last match, odds, upcoming fixtures

Chivas (last five league games: DLLWW) find themselves back above the playoff line, with a great opportunity this weekend to gain a valuable three points and a huge boost in club morale. Guadalajara is attempting to win its third road Clásico Tapatío in four, and Atlas is in second-to-last place and potentially missing its team’s biggest threat.

A win over Chivas’ local rivals could see the club rise as high as third in the 2020 Clausura, and could be a key moment in this team’s development as they attempt to make another run at the league title.

Atlas (last five league games: WLLLL) knows a little more about the Acosta allegations than the soccer public does, which is little to nothing at all. A Guadalajara model posted a video on social media last week, claiming she had filed a formal complaint with the authorities and was working with officials to describe the allegation in further detail.

Saturday night’s Clásico is the first game for Atlas since the news broke, and it is anybody’s guess as to whether Luciano Acosta will be in custody or in the starting lineup at kick-off. Acosta is both Atlas’ most valuable player and dynamic attacker, and his presence against Chivas will be crucial in determining the team’s success in the game, along with qualifying in for the Liguilla in May.

Odds

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of March 6:

  • Guadalajara: +140 (wager $100 to win $140)
  • Atlas: +210 (wager $100 to win $210)
  • Draw: +210 (wager $100 to win $140)

Upcoming Fixtures

Chivas: Saturday, March 14 vs. Monterrey (Liga MX)

Atlas: Sunday, March 15 at Toluca (Liga MX)
