According to a Cohasset, Massachusettes police press release, 911 dispatchers deployed police to a scene where they discovered Stelzer “actively assaulting a 24-year-old woman with weapons including a knife.” Police then used tasers to disarm and subdue Stelzer.

“Stelzer was immediately provided medical attention by EMTs,” police said. “During transport to a local area hospital, Stelzer became unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.”

The woman sustained “extensive” injuries from stabbing and slashing, and she was taken to a local hospital, police said.

Boston 25 reported that Stelzer and the woman knew each other for about a week and that they had met on Tinder.

“My sister has been through a horrific attack that would have killed her had the police not arrived,” the woman’s sister told the TV station. “It’s going to be a long recovery due to extensive wounds, but she’s an amazing, strong, young woman and will get through this. Her family and friends are here for her and will be by her side throughout this recovery.”

The woman’s mother told NBC Boston her daughter would survive the attack but that “she’ll need plastic surgery and an eye specialist.”

Stelzer’s father, Harold, told NBC Boston that his son was 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds. He said police used their taser four times on his son.

Harold Stelzer said he wanted to apologize “to the girl who was assaulted,” but he’s also determined to find out exactly what happened.

Stelzer’s YouTube channel consisted of him giving tutorials on how to lift weights. Though he hadn’t posted a video since November 2017, he had uploaded vlogs about how to properly work out your triceps and back, how he takes care of his injured shoulder while lifting, and how he lost 30 pounds in eight weeks. He only had about 50 subscribers at the time of his death, but since last Friday, he’s accumulated nearly 300 more subscribers and nearly 80,000 page views on his videos.
