It doesn’t matter that Devon LaRussa has just over 100 Twitter followers. Her father is St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa, so when Devon tweets, chances are people will hear about it. Especially when she seems to be talking trash about a major baseball figure.

“I saw a crack head doing ‘The Wash’ today. Coincidence? I think not…”

“The Wash” refers to a signature dugout dance move by Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington, her father’s counterpart in this year’s World Series.

“Social media can kick your ass fast,” CJ Roming posted on Twitter in response to a tweet by Devon that was making waves Monday morning.

In 2009, Washington tested positive for cocaine and later admitted to using the drug.

Devon deleted the tweet Sunday night. “I really truly did not mean to be offensive! It’s a phrase I use, meant as a joke. Please don’t be offended! Go Cards!!!” she posted on Twitter shortly afterwards—and after her father’s Cardinals lost 4-0 to the Rangers in game four of the World Series. The series is tied 2-2.

Devon, 29, is the younger sister of Bianca LaRussa, who made headlines this year after being selected as a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders. A September injury forced Bianca, 32, off the squad.

And their father unsuccessfully filed suit in 2009 against Twitter Inc. after an impersonator popped up on the site.

“Lovely family,” Andrew E. Johnson said in a tweet about Devon LaRussa’s gaffe.

Neither manager has been able to escape their past demons in this years MLB playoffs. Some fans have taken shots at LaRussa’s own drunk-driving arrest in 2009.

“And for a crackhead, so can Washington. ‘@SportsChump: For a drunken driver, that Tony LaRussa sure can manage a baseball team’,” SteveTheBeav3 posted on Twitter the day after the Cardinals advanced to the World Series by defeating the Milwaukee Brewers.
