Demi Lovato is having some kind of a moment right now. In her latest single, “Sober,” released last month, the singer, songwriter, and actress opened up about a recent alcohol relapse. Lovato has never been shy about addressing personal issues such as addiction, mental health, and body image, and she often does so with confidence and humor.
Nevertheless, putting a hard truth like that into a lyrical form no doubt took a lot of bravery, but Lovato—like any celebrities who put their personal lives out there (or even those who don’t)—is still subject to her fair share of trolling on the internet.

Many fans were quick to speculate that the culprit might be Lovato’s former sober coach Mike Bayer, a life coach, blogger, and Dr. Phil regular who admonished celebrities who excuse bad behavior as being an “artist” in an Instagram video on Thursday.
“I think if somebody uses it as an excuse to be late, or insincere, or rude, or unapologetic, that’s not being an artist, that’s being a jerk,” Bayer says in the clip. “And you shouldn’t stand for that.”

Another tweet of Demi’s has since surfaced that suggests a falling out between the two, shortly before she went public about her relapse. (Apparently the two also no longer follow one another on social media.)
