We’re doing our best to keep our minds off our truly horrible farmer’s tan we got while marching to bring you the three things that buzzed online this weekend.
The gayest of weekends
If you feel the need to tear off your shirt and march around drenched in glitter, well this was the weekend you could’ve done it without getting odd looks. From San Francisco to New York, many cities across America held gay pride events and parades. A search for #gaypride on Hashgram turned up many images both fascinating and frightening.
But, our props go to our new favorite Twitter user @agreatbigcity, a New York City-focused account that curated tons of fabulous parade pictures from the massive event. Here’s a picture from Sunday’s march.
England falters at Euro2012
For producing some of the world’s most well-known soccer stars, England is not very good at actually winning any games. Granted, they did make to the quarterfinals of the Euro2012 tournament, but perhaps the country’s dreary weather seeped into their heads and clouded their energy. The game came down to a penalty kick faceoff, and Italy’s Andrea Pirlo sealed England’s fate. Let’s rewatch Pirlo’s game-ending kick over and over again with this GIF from Bleacher Report.
Madeon’s mashup
Teenage sensation Madeon revealed his new mix on BBC Radio 1 over the weekend, and it’s amazing. The 18-year-old (you probably weren’t this talented at 18) threw down his amazing new mashup that samples nearly 100 tracks in a five-minute song. His SoundCloud page racked up 34,000 plays in the first 12 hours and 300 adoring comments. One user commented “I wish this mix would last forever.” That’s not possible, but we’ve put it on repeat to rev up our Monday morning.
