In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Billie Eilish revealed that she and Drake are texting buddies—and some people are finding that pretty weird.

The 17-year-old “Bad Guy” singer answered a question about what famous people are in her phone, listing off quite a few before landing on one of the most famous rappers of our time.

Drake is like, the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to,” she says. “I mean, I’ve only like, texted him, but he’s so nice. He does not need to be nice, you know what I mean? He’s at a level in his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is.”

While Eilish may have been impressed with her text interactions with Drake, some fans were quick to question the relationship between the teen and the former Degrassi star.

“Why is Drake texting 17 year old Billie Eilish? Are we going to pretend there’s not a pattern here of Drake texting underage girls that don’t have shit to [do] with rap?” activist Calvin Benson tweeted.

Drake previously came under fire last year for his friendship with then 14-year-old Stranger Things star, Millie Bobby Brown, who told reporters he often texted her with advice on dating and boys.

“Does anyone else think it’s strange that Drake just has Billie Eilish and Millie Bobby Brown’s numbers?” one Twitter user asked.

While an adult talking to a teenager in and of itself isn’t necessarily a creep factor, Drake’s past history of dating women who are a lot younger than him and sometimes barely legal has given fans pause.

“He was dating an 18 year old he knew for years,” someone pointed out, which could have referred to several different rumored paramours of the rapper.

Even though Eilish had only positive things to say about Drake and their text convos, people online were also quick to point out that doesn’t necessarily mean everything is A-OK with his behavior.

“I loved it when I was 17 and adult men wanted to know me,” writer Marianne Eloise tweeted. “It’s only in hindsight that I found it weird, and it’s really on adults to interrogate what ‘being nice’ actually means here.”
