What started off as a stellar selfie—thick eyebrows, pigtails, and a layered necklace—soon had fans freaking out. Bella Thorne has always been unapologetic toward her fashion choices, and that’s one of the reasons we love her. But late Monday, Thorne’s fashion sparked outrage and curiosity because fans swore it was a religious proclamation.
As Teen Vogue flagged, the former Disney icon shared a picture on Snapchat where she appeared to don a necklace with the word “Allah” written in Arabic letters.
Since Snapchat does not allow users to zoom in on photos, it is understandable that fans were confused by the blurry picture. However, once her photo was shared and questioned on Instagram, the star gave a response that no one saw coming.
“It actually says ‘slut,’” Thorne wrote.

Yes, her necklace said “slut,” not “Allah,” and the internet is freaking out all over again.

It seems like the 19-year-old’s life has been under a microscope since shedding her Disney image. Thorne has been the face of many rumors, such as whether she’s dating party pal Scott Disick, and she also allegedly posted her ex’s nudes.
As Teen Vogue specified, Thorne’s necklace seems to be her way of reclaiming the word “slut.” She has spoken about being bullied and slut-shamed in the past. This wasn’t the first time the starlet wore the controversial necklace. She can be seen wearing the heart-shaped pendant in some of her Instagram photos.
This won’t be the last time her style will turn heads, but hopefully next time fans at least get their facts right.
