The University of Alabama is the best college football team in the country, and the Crimson Tide will be in the NCAA playoffs that will determine a national title winner. The Belk Bowl is a lower-tier postseason contest that will host two teams with mediocre records.
But the person who runs the Belk Bowl Twitter account is the hero the college football world needed Saturday. Because he or she wanted to make sure everybody knew which team was NOT being considered for its less-than-prestigious bowl game.
BREAKING: we can officially confirm that Alabama will not be invited to play in the Belk Bowl this year.
