Everything’s better with bacon. That includes mashups.

Sometimes a spontaneous burst of song perfectly captures an idyllic moment—an overproduced, diva-tastic wall of sound most perfectly expresses the state of our souls. This, my friends, was one of those times.

Jake the dog from Cartoon Network series Adventure Time with Finn and Jake is a good boy. How good? He makes bacon pancakes while singing tunefully. That is, in fact, the very definition of a good dog, at least on a hungry morning. In the episode called “Burning Low,” Jake prepares said pancakes while signing the accompanying song, composed by Rebecca Sugar. The lyrics are, in their entirety,

“Bacon pancakes, makin’ bacon pancakes,
Take some bacon and I’ll put it in a pancake,
Bacon pancakes, that’s what it’s gonna make,
Bacon pancake!”

The Adventure Time Wiki demonstrates the benefits of a large and engaged fanbase, as it quickly listed not only the lyrics, songwriter, producer, and vocalist (Jake the dog, duh) but also the chords (F♯, D♯m, B, and C♯) and a demo version of the song.

Alicia Keys is a superstar with enough gold and platinum records to start her own scrap metal factory. Her anthemic “Empire State of Mind” is both earnest and slick, and is quite possibly the best song New York City has had since “New York, New York.”

What madness possessed 17-year-old Marcus Coronel to put them together the world may never know. But it can give thanks.

The mashup first appeared on Coronel’s Tumblr, Cloud 9, where it gathered 26,463 notes and 184,597 plays in two months. On Nov. 12, YouTuber Razaltin uploaded a video putting the respective parts of each song together for a somewhat jarring transition. Nonetheless, we love the idea of a duet between Keys and Jake

Someone posted it to Reddit, someone else to Cheezburger, and the next thing you know it hit 816,485 views. Now all we need is someone clever to make it a seamless loop. Can “10 Hours of Bacon Pancake State of Mind” be far away?
