A complicated relationship with her father was no match for the Christmas spirit Ariana Grande felt on Tuesday.
Grande is very close to her mother Joan but has previously spoken out about her strained relationship with her dad, Edward Butera. The singer told Seventeen magazine during a 2014 interview that she fell “out of touch with [her] dad.”
“I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them,” she added.
She even touched on their relationship in her hit single, “thank u, next.”
“One day I’ll walk to down the aisle, holding hands with my momma,” she sings in the track. “I’ll be thanking my dad ‘cause she grew from the drama.”
But it seems the star was able to put all hurt feelings aside and give her old man a call. She even posted a black and white picture of their FaceTime chat on her Instagram story.

This isn’t the first time Grande has posted about her dad since talking about their relationship. In 2017, she posted a baby picture with him and wished him a happy Father’s Day.

It seems rebuilding the relationship couldn’t come at a better time for Grande, who from break-ups to break-out hits has had quite the year.
