Today would have been Amy Winehouse‘s 33rd birthday, and one of the world’s biggest pop stars took a moment to remember her on Twitter.
Adele tweeted, “Happy Birthday Amy X,” and a photo of Winehouse Wednesday morning. Previously, the singer has spoken openly about how important Winehouse’s music has been to her as an artist.
“I loved her and I went through my own massive grieving process as her fan,” she told the British magazine i-D. “I’d finally got to a place where I felt really great about the impact she’d had on my life, in every way. I felt really, really fond of it all… I love Amy. I always have, I always will.”

Winehouse died of accidental alcohol poisoning in 2011 after a struggle with addiction that was documented by the tabloids. Her life story was recently told in the 2015 documentary Amy, which took a look at how fame impacted the singer’s mental health and contributed to her untimely death. In 2016, the Amy Winehouse Foundation opened a recovery house for young women in East London—Amy’s Place—in her memory.
