It’s been a while since 2002’s Spider-Man hit the big screen, helping usher in a new golden age of comic book films. One thing the movie was roundly praised for was its choice of veteran actor Willem Dafoe to play Spider-Man’s archnemesis the Green Goblin. Dafoe was certainly great in the role, but it’s odd that eighteen years later people are suddenly remembering, or perhaps discovering, how great his butt looked in a tight green spandex suit.
On March 5, Twitter user @RottingVale posted a still-frame from the movie showing Dafoe as the Green Goblin, astride his famous Goblin Glider, chasing down a fleeing Toby Maguire. The shot leaves little doubt that Dafoe made sure to get himself in shape for the role. At the very least he must have been doing a lot of squats.
To date, the tweet has racked about around 17,000 retweets. People just can’t get enough of Dafoe’s juicy backside.
And now it’s become its own object-labeling meme.
Lord only knows what Willem Dafoe thinks about all this, or if he’s even seen it. At any rate, it’s always nice to be appreciated for ones… work?
