The U.S. embassy in Canberra, Australia, blamed a “training error” for sending out a blast email on behalf of the U.S State Department. It included a picture of a cat in pajamas eating cookies, according to the Australian Associated Press.

The email included an invite to a party, which, sadly, the embassy announced would not be happening.

U.S. public affairs counselor Gavin Sundwall had to break the news in a follow-up email: “Sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to attend this ‘cat pajama-jam’ party, but such an event falls well outside our area of expertise. It was a training error made by one of our new staff testing out our email newsletter platform.”

According to the Australian AP, the original email included Latin text and a call to RVSP for a party.

The cat that was included in the email is an Instagram-famous cat, owned by Jennifer Stewart, who frequently poses Joey in Cookie Monster pajamas.

He even shared a picture of the story, saying he was upset too, that the party wasn’t happening.

They should probably invite the cat to the embassy for a photoshoot.
